Check in time at the majority of our resorts is 3:00PM! So what happens if you arrive at the resort at 10:00AM?
I arrived this weekend at a family resort at 12:30 and was told my room would be ready between 2:30 & 3:00 please check back. No problem, traveling with Suzelle, we left our bags with the porter and found a great place for lunch with a view.
I did feel quite sorry for the families traveling with little children, who were tired from the plane ride and the transfer. They wanted to be in the water! And I don’t blame them so let’s talk about a little prior planning.
Always pack in your carry on bag a few essentials so everyone will be happy. Your carry on or an outside zipper pocket of your checked luggage should contain – bathing suits and sun screen. Room not ready – off to the pool side bath house to change and everyone is happy. Order lunch pool side and make yourself at home.
Another family I met the first flight had run late and they did the run through the concourse for the connecting flight with no chance for picking up lunch of any kind. The kids were beyond cranky. Please do carry snacks from home for the kids because unless you are flying first class you probably will not be served food.
And last but not least please do pack any medication you are dependent on in your carry on bag. If your bags are lost you may have a difficult time acquiring your medication in a developing country.
